A good face mask helps not only to hydrate but also to remove the excess oil present in the face. It can also unclog the pores and give a glowing skin. The face mask is a good way to treat the skin and should be done from time to time. When makeup is used on a regular basis the skin starts to become rough and dry and breakouts often occur. Although everyone should remove the makeup and moisturize the face sometimes it’s not enough and face masks are applied to hydrate the face, get rid of the dirt, dead skin cells and get a glowing face.
As due to the mass availability of makeup in stores finding a face mask is not tough. But the best results often come from homemade face masks. It can be a little time consuming but it will be a lot cheaper than the store bought masks and shall give better results. To make face masks at home the following steps should be followed:
Banana: It is said that one does not need Botox when they have the banana. Bananas can be used to moisturize skin and make it softer and smoother. Mash a medium size banana and apply it all over the face and neck and leave it on for 10-15 minutes. Another mask can be made by mixing half cup yogurt, two tablespoons of honey and a medium size banana. Apply the mask and leave it for at least 15 minutes and then wash with cold water.
Yogurt: To get a spa-like facial treatment at home yogurt can be used. Yogurt has the capability to tighten the pores. Plain yogurt can be applied directly and let it sit for 20 minutes. Or a mask can be made using Aloe Vera, orange pulp, orange juice and yogurt to apply all over the face.
Oatmeal: One of the most common ingredients found in the household is oatmeal. This helps in soaking the excess oil from the face and also works as an exfoliant. A half cup of hot water is mixed with the ⅓ cup of oatmeal and let it stay that way for few minutes. Then two tablespoons of yogurt, honey, and one egg white are mixed with the oatmeal. After applying to the face let it sit for 15 minutes and rinse off with lukewarm water.
Cocoa avocado mask: It is widely known that cocoa can exfoliate the skin and avocado is used as a hydrating agent. The mixture of these two can give a brilliant face mask. With half avocado, one teaspoon of cocoa powder should be mixed and then one tablespoon of honey is to be poured over the mixture to get the desired consistency. After that apply it on the skin and keep it for 10 minutes before washing off with cold water.
Honey and yeast: Nutritional yeast has all the properties to fight acne and is Rich in vitamin B which helps to keep the pH balance of the skin and honey is antibacterial and helps to make a good acne healing mask. Firstly, one cup of chamomile tea is to be brewed and cooled down completely. In another bowl, one tablespoon of raw honey and one teaspoon of Nutritional yeast is to be mixed. Then slowly the tea should be added to get a paste like substance. A thin layer of the mixture is to be added all over the face and let it dry for 20 minutes before cleaning it completely.
Mayonnaise: It may come as a surprise to some people but mayonnaise can help the skin to become soft. It is recommended to use egg based mayonnaise to get better results as eggs are good for both skin and hair. One tablespoon of mayonnaise can be applied all over the face and kept for at least 15 minutes before washing off to get a smooth and soft skin.
