Our body consists of many pores and each follicle contains one hair and a gland known as sebaceous which forms oil known as the sebum. The sebum helps the body to stay soft. When dirt is accumulated on this hair follicles and the skin is lying on top it is known as the whiteheads. When the skin does not cover the pores and it comes in contact with the air, the accumulated dirt turns black in color and the bumps are known as the blackheads.
In the market, there is various blackhead removing masks are available which can help to clear the pores. But these masks are costly and the quantity is also not much. Often these masks can be very painful and cause the skin irritation and allergies. The best ways to get rid of the blackheads is through the home remedy. With very limited items one can remove blackheads without spending much money and it is also not painful.
Baking soda: One of the best ways to get rid of blackheads is by using baking soda. There is antiseptic agent present in it and it is a great exfoliant for the skin. Baking soda also helps to maintain the pH level of the skin and control excess production of oil. The mask is easy to make as only baking soda and water are required. First, wash the face with lukewarm water to open the pores. Then in a bowl take about one tablespoon of baking soda and little water to make a paste. Then apply it in the affected areas of the skin. After 10 minutes, wash it off with cold water. This process should be followed twice every week
Cinnamon: It is a wonder spice which is anti bacterial and gives all sort of benefits to the skin. As the spice is harsh in texture it can be used to exfoliate the skin. Cinnamon can be used for both face and body scrub. Mix one part of cinnamon powder with some honey to make a paste. Apply a thin layer of this paste over the blackheads and let it sit for at least 10 minutes. Then rinse it with some cleanser and apply moisturizer. For better result use this mask daily.
Oatmeal: Another power food is oatmeal when it comes to making masks and scrubs for the body. Oatmeal is used to absorb the excess oil that our body produces and helps to unclog the pores and exfoliates. It also has antioxidants and anti inflammatory properties. Pour half cup of hot water over a cup of oatmeal and let it cool down completely. After that apply it over the blackheads and gently massage before cleaning it off with lukewarm water. This should be applied daily for the best result.
Turmeric: This spice is often known as a medicinal spice as it helps to treat many skin related problems. Turmeric contains both antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties which will be beneficial for removing blackheads. Although the turmeric might leave a yellow stain, it will go away after washing a few times. In a bowl, a part of turmeric powder and coconut oil should be mixed to make a paste. Then this paste is to be applied over the bumps and let it soak and dry for 10 minutes before washing off with lukewarm water. It is advised to use daily to treat blackheads permanently.
Toothpaste and salt: One of the well-known ways to clear blackheads is by using toothpaste. Mint toothpaste is often used to make the mask as it helps to kill the bacteria and clear the pores. Whereas salt is used as a disinfectant and has a coarse texture. Toothpaste and salt do not mix together making it a good scrub. With two tablespoons of toothpaste, one tablespoon of salt should be mixed. Then apply this mixture on the area of the blackheads and let it dry for few minutes before massaging the face gently. After that wash the face and apply ice to close the pores. This process can be repeated once every week.
